One of the biggest benefits to using it is going to be the ability to take cards with you on the go. From personal experience you can fit about 3 different cards into this case. You can also throw a couple of bills in there as well.
As far as protection this case also gets the job done. It is very easy to take on / off, and once on it will cover every corner of your iphone. It also has a bit of a front raised lip which will allow you to get a bit of front facing protection as well.
